Attunement to Nature and Self
On a visit to see my mother, I noticed her daily ritual: moments spent outside, simply being with herself. She would feel the warmth of the sun, gaze at the sky, and observe the world around her. This act of attunement to nature and self is a simple yet essential practice in her day—a routine I've since brought home with me.
Each day, we have the ability to connect with our inner world of thought through our senses. This practice can reveal and renew our native lens, uncolored by the secondhand messaging that constantly seeks our attention. By doing so, we arrive at the wisdom of our senses.
In embracing this practice, we open ourselves to a deeper understanding of our place in the world. By setting aside time to be present and aware, we cultivate a sense of peace and clarity that can guide us through our busy lives. The key is not the location, but the intentional act of pausing, observing, and connecting with our surroundings and ourselves. Whether on a porch, in a park, or on a busy street corner, this practice of mindful attention can ground us and offer a refreshing perspective amidst the chaos of daily life. As we attune ourselves to nature and our inner selves, we may find that the most profound insights come not from external sources, but from the quiet wisdom within.
